Halloween....ha ha ha

Saturday night was the first time in a long time that I have been trick or treating. We got the kids all dressed up as bikers (see the pictures here)and set out on our Halloween adventure. I learned alot about Halloween this year:

1. Halloween now starts before nightfall. I thought we would be "early" at 6PM, nope...we were running late.

2. Most people no longer go all out for halloween. In fact a great number of houses just had bowls of cand on the porch for youngsters to come up and get. What is the fun in that?

3. You now have to cover much more ground to get a decent (sack full) amount of candy. A portion of a subdivision and a trunk or treat and the bags were not even half full!

4. Why trunk or treat??? That just seems like the lazy way.

5. Halloween now ends earlier, probably because it starts earlier. By 8PM we could not find any more candy =(

So next year I will be prepared. We will start trick or treating before nightfall, and we will cover the ENTIRE subdivison...and then some. CANDY! CANDY! CANDY!

I am a working mom

It is no secret if you know me at all, I am a working mom. I work full time. I leave my house at 6AM and barely make it home by 6PM, Monday through Friday. And then I work overtime some nights and weekends...like today. I am spending my Sunday working overtime. And then I also do photography on the side to make extra money. And I am active in my church's childrens ministry. It gets to be alot. Our lives are very hectic and sometimes I wonder if it's worth it. Are my priorities right? I believe my work is important. I believe my work is necessary for my families survival. Sometimes my work is needed for my sanity. Even with a crazy work enviorment, sometimes it is mental break I need to function at home. However, as my children get older, the more I realize that I am missing thier lives. I've daydreamed about becoming a stay at home mom, but let me tell you, the numbers don't work. Even if we gave up all the ammenities...

The Project

The project is simple. Write the maker of a product every day for a year. Do not ask them specifically for coupons as I did in the Coupon Mania post. Do not write regarding any particular product more than twice in a year. Do not write any particular parent company more than four time is a month (or once a week). Be honest in what you write, give feed back, ask questions. (NOTE: While I have these categorized by parent company, I never wrote to any parent company more than one time in a day.) Mommy Kisses

WARNING: YOU MAY NOT WANT TO READ THIS POST WHILE EATING... My daughter has been sick since Thursday, running a high fever. Luckily its just an ear infection and not the flu. However early Sunday morning (and I stress Early, well before 8AM) my dogs started barking and woke Shiloh up. Since I was not ready to get up, and she didn't look like she was ready to face the world either, I took her into my room and laid back down with her. I was in a light doze, and she seemed to go in and out of dozing with some wiggling in between. After one wiggling bout, she started whining and I opened my eyes just wide enough to see her holding her hand in the air. Now at 19 months old, we are heavily following the "I hurt it, so mommy kisses it and its all better" philosophy. I naturally assumed the hand or finger had been pinched, rolled on, or otherwise "hurt" and needed a mommy kiss so we could both go back to sleep.
