What to buy THIS week for Easter 2/8/19

I know, I know. Easter is still 2 months away. That makes this the PERFECT time to stock up on summer clothes (because they will go OFF clearance in a just a few short weeks) and to buy items from online companies that ship from China.

Bonus: Crazy 8 and Gymboree have announced they are going out of business. This means some excellent deals on what is left of their inventory.

Here is what I'm buying this week:

(Disclaimer: These were the prices and items in stock on the dates I wrote/researched for this post 2/5-2/7/19. Prices and availability are subject to change.)

For the Baby:

If you are already placing an Amazon order, add this teether on to your order for $3.54.

With Gymboree and Crazy 8 going out of business, I would also shop for headbands, bows, hats and socks. You may even find some deeply discounted outfits.

For the Toddler:

I am digging these faux wood sunglasses sunglasses for boys and these sparkle sunglasses for girls from Gymboree ($2.97 each). Go ahead and check out the deals on the rest of the Gymboree sight to stock up on clothes for the coming summer season too!

Also, now is a good time to start watching the discounted movie bin at Walmart!

For the Little Kid:

Go on over to Crazy 8 for an amazing deal on summer tanks. Your little girl is sure to love this rainbow tank and your little boy will be extra awesome in this awesome tank, for $2.97 each.  They also have a ton of accessories for under $2.

Go ahead and buy some character toiletry items. Make bath time more fun with these Paw Patrol 3 in 1 shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

For the Big Kid:

This week, I stocked up on Abercrombie Kids summer clothes. Their shipping rate is really reasonable and if you sign up for their rewards card, you will get a $10 off $50 coupon (which I didn't use this time, because I only spent $20). This girls logo shirt is under $7 and this boys logo shirt is only $9.99. They also have shorts on sale for both for around $12.

This is also a good time to head on over to Wish to buy some sports or favorite character items. They have a variety of sports bracelets like these for $2 including shipping. They also have necklaces, headbands and hats. Your kid not into sports? They also have a magnificent collection of Harry Potter items and Fortnight shirts for cheap. Pay attention to sizing, they tend to run small so your big kid may very well wear an adult small or medium.  These items can take anywhere from two weeks to about a month to get to you, so don't wait to order these items. I have ordered items I never received but the refund process was quick and painless (next day after the item didn't arrive by 1 week after the expected delivery date.) I have received over 90% of the items I ordered, so overall for the price, it is a win!

For the Tween:

I found a coupon code for these bluetooth earbuds that made them $11. The coupon code is IAXGHIMA. The expected delivery date isn't until March, and I don't know how long the coupon code will last.

Now is also a good time to go ahead and look for a decent pocket knife or stock up on some cosmetics.

For the Teen:

Ok, so I actually bought two pairs of the earbuds above, one for my teen and one for my tween. Both American Eagle and Hollister are running sales right now. Hollister has this swim separates like this cute emroideried top for $9.99. They also have these charcoal board shorts for $19.99. If you join their rewards program, you will get a coupon off AND once you earn a certain amount of points, you will get FREE shipping on EVERY order! Yay!

This week is also a good week to raid your local dollar store for the best tech accessories. These will go fast once other people start thinking about Easter. My favorite find was a cell phone stand at Dollar Tree. This will come in handy for making videos or video chatting with friends with out having to hold the phone the entire time.

For the Adult:

I don't know many adults who would not like this wireless charging pad on Amazon for under $12. It is a daily deal, but I have noticed the tech deals seem to renew every day for about a week. Keep checking!

This is also a good week to check out the kitchen spoons, can openers and other gadgets at Walmart, Target and Dollar General, especially if you are looking for spring colors.

That is what I bought this week. What did you buy? Do you know of any good deals I should check out?

Parents and Nutritional Idealogy

Last night I was reading an article in one of my parenting forums. The article itself was innocent enough, dispelling the myth that caffine stunts growth. The comments however, annoyed the crap out of me. “I don't see the point of giving child soda…..They are pretty horrible for you. So why give it to my daughter? There are plenty of other options out there than soda. Caffeine free or not, they don't need all that sugar. The sugar alternatives are just as bad. Their little bodies are developing so fast, why not give them beverages that encourage a healthy mind and body.” “What amazes me, in reading some of these community answers is how much artificial sugar parents are giving their children. Diet soda is no more healthy than regular soda, it doesn't contain sugar but it does contain chemically made ingredients such as aspartame or Nutra Sweet which the FDA says to consume in moderation because long term side effects need to be evaluated. Its unfortunate that even Pedia...

The Project

The project is simple. Write the maker of a product every day for a year. Do not ask them specifically for coupons as I did in the Coupon Mania post. Do not write regarding any particular product more than twice in a year. Do not write any particular parent company more than four time is a month (or once a week). Be honest in what you write, give feed back, ask questions. (NOTE: While I have these categorized by parent company, I never wrote to any parent company more than one time in a day.)
