Rewind, Fastforward

Call it being busy, call it the winter blues, I just haven't felt like blogging lately.

But that doesn't mean I haven't thought about it, or you!

I have a HUGE coupon project in the works, that will be much like my Coupon Mania post in early 2010, only MUCH MUCH bigger. =)

With that being said, I've thought about moving my couponing/money saving posts to their own blog and just using this blog for personal posts. What do you think? Are you interested in just one or the other and rather have them seperated? Or is it easier to get all my info and thoughts in one place? Leave a Comment letting me know!

As for an update on our lives:
October
We had Zachary for fall break and generally had a good time. Football season came to an end.
Shiloh loved trick or treating this year, I still think we have halloween candy at the house!

November
We had friends over to celebrate my 29th birthday. I have decided I have to make the most of this last year before I enter my 30's. I am already planning my mid life crisis.
We had our first Thanksgiving at our house. Yes, we've been in our house for 4 years now, but we've always done Thanksgiving at either my parents or Jeremy's parents. Jeremy smoked the most awesome turkey ever, I think I ALWAYS want a smoked turkey now! While he did the meat, I prepared all the other dishes and it was a success. Everything was done on time, still hot, and very very good!

December
December was busy as usual. We had a good time at all of our family Christmas gatherings.
Me and Jeremy went to the Garth Brooks concert with a couple of friends of ours (Thank You Kristen for getting us the tickets!) The concert rocked. Before the concert we discovered a wonderful little place, the Batter Box that I hope we get to patronize again soon.
We had Zachary for the full week before Christmas for the first time this year, and that was wonderful. The kids had an awesome Christmas and Santa was very good to them. I think Zachary's favorite item was his Leggo Battleship, and Shiloh absolutely adored her Pillow Pet.

January
January started off with me and Jeremy falling asleep before New Years. =( First time that has ever happened. I guess we are getting old.
Jeremy had a good birthday (I think) and me and Shiloh took him out to eat Mexican for his birthday.

And that about catches you up. Now I am looking forward to the future. Shiloh will be turning 3 in a couple of weeks. I am trying to come up with some good things to do with the kids this spring and summer. There is so much I want to do, but so little funds to do it with. I guess that's just the way it is!

Comments

  1. Excellent update!

The first three years I've fallen asleep before midnight on New Year's Eve were the year I was pregnant with Tori, the year right after I had her, and this past year as well. I was just as content to snuggle around her in bed as I was to party. =) Funny how motherhood changes one.

As far as the blogs - I give terrible blog advice, I think, because I'm not so certain I have a blog worth a damn myself! Long story short, though, I prefer keeping them all under one blog. Perhaps you can show a category cloud so that people can select their topics of interest?

Parents and Nutritional Idealogy

Last night I was reading an article in one of my parenting forums. The article itself was innocent enough, dispelling the myth that caffine stunts growth. The comments however, annoyed the crap out of me. “I don't see the point of giving child soda…..They are pretty horrible for you. So why give it to my daughter? There are plenty of other options out there than soda. Caffeine free or not, they don't need all that sugar. The sugar alternatives are just as bad. Their little bodies are developing so fast, why not give them beverages that encourage a healthy mind and body.” “What amazes me, in reading some of these community answers is how much artificial sugar parents are giving their children. Diet soda is no more healthy than regular soda, it doesn't contain sugar but it does contain chemically made ingredients such as aspartame or Nutra Sweet which the FDA says to consume in moderation because long term side effects need to be evaluated. Its unfortunate that even Pedia...

The Project

The project is simple. Write the maker of a product every day for a year. Do not ask them specifically for coupons as I did in the Coupon Mania post. Do not write regarding any particular product more than twice in a year. Do not write any particular parent company more than four time is a month (or once a week). Be honest in what you write, give feed back, ask questions. (NOTE: While I have these categorized by parent company, I never wrote to any parent company more than one time in a day.)
